prodigy of color.
aelita andre is a four-year-old girl from the land down under who’s recently been making waves for her first solo exhibit in NYC. already dubbed as an art-world phenom, watch as the world’s youngest (abstract) painter works in her studio. she just makes it look so easy to splash some color onto a blank canvas and end up with a painting that could’ve come straight out of a gallery — that’s short of saying, you wouldn’t think her paintings were done by a toddler. if fairy godmothers can turn pumpkins into horse-drawn carriages with their magic wands, then this little picasso-in-the-making can create masterpieces with the wave of her paintbrush (or the squeeze of her paint tubes).
that’s just pure awesomeness, with a capital A.
pacman’s crib.
forget that he has a weird accent, he’s still pretty awesome.
today is chinese new year, and we welcome the year of the metal rabbit. i have always known i was a rooster, but didn’t know i was a metal rooster. sounds like a rock star rooster, if you ask me. so on my drive home from work yesterday, i was tuned into my fave radio station and they had this chinese astrologer as a guest on air. she was giving the dj’s their respective “fortunes” for 2011, and it got me thinking what’s in store for the rooster this year. out of curiosity, i looked it up online and here’s what one of them says:
» THE ROOSTER
The Rooster is always popular, extravagant and creative. They can be brutally honest and generally like being showered with attention. They are wonderfully loyal friends and also give advice freely – whether they are asked for it or not! Family means the world to the Rooster and they are one of the most loyal signs in the Chinese zodiac.
» FEARLESS FORECAST FOR 2011
The Year of the Rabbit will be a much quieter year than 2010 for the Rooster. However, the Rooster will have to curb his natural exuberance and enthusiasm just a bit in 2011 and practice some patience and common sense. On the work front, it will be vital for the Rooster to work closely with his colleagues and practice his networking skills. This will stand to him during the months of March, April, November and December when unexpected developments happen . All the work he does now on the career front will pay dividends in 2012, the Chinese Year of the Dragon. The Rooster should also consider any opportunities he may have to study or for training. This would go extremely well for him and again benefit him greatly later on in the year. On the social and romantic side of life, this will be a much more settled and quiet year, which will be to many a Rooster’s liking. March, July and August look to be the most active on the social scene. A word of warning though – the Rooster must take care to temper his words with friends and not be too harsh. A quarrel or end of a close relationship could result. Financially, the Rooster may have a few home-related expenses this year with repairs, decorating and renovations. It would be wise to manage any project sensibly and shop around for the best deal; Chinese Rabbit years can be expensive for all signs. On the whole, 2011 looks like being a pleasurable and encouraging year for all Roosters.

i just find it ironic that my “best hours” are between 5-7pm…ummm, that’s my last hour at work, and another hour spent on the road in traffic. i guess i should savor those moments this year! :)
not usually a believer of stuff like this, but it’s always interesting to read up on it especially when some of the details they use to describe the rooster match me…not gonna say which ones, put some are pretty spot on. *if you know me well enough, then you’d know which ones i’m talking about.* go ahead, check out your sign here and see what’s your fortune like in the year of the wabbit.
on that note, here’s to some tasty tikoy (粘糕, nián gāo) and a wonderful year ahead. 新年快乐!!!
that’s exactly what i tweeted some 45 minutes ago…
i am not an avid coffee-drinker, but now and then, when the mood strikes, i treat myself to a cup. tonight, after two bowls of pasta (yes, i was starved and tired from work), i decided to join my dad, mom and brother for some after-dinner coffee at home. nothing brewed and fancy, just some 3-in-1 diluted in hot water, but with a twist.
fresh from his holiday stash, my dad opened a bottle of kahlua and we decided to mix in a shot (or two) for that added oomph
i don’t know exactly what prompted me to even drink coffee tonight. maybe i wanted to warm up a bit with the cooler evenings we’ve been getting lately, but what was i thinking? i’m looking at the clock, and it’s half past midnight, and i’m wide awake (thus this very late blog post). tonight, i had wanted to fight my insomnia and sleep earlier since i was up ‘til 1am yesterday finishing up a presentation for work. but forget it, it’s not gonna happen. how is it even possible that you’re physically tired, but mentally awake? my weary self is already shaking its head and thinking i really couldn’t have picked a better time to treat myself with some caffeine boost.
note to self: perhaps next time, put less coffee and more kahlua in the cup.
