北京 rendezvous, day 8.
we’ve heard it all before: “all good things must come to an end.” sadly, day 8 marked my last day in beijing as i was scheduled to fly out by noon. there really wasn’t much to do on that day, except for last-minute packing. i was very sad to leave philippe behind, though i knew we’d be seeing each other on skype everyday. i had an amazing seven days in beijing, and absolutely loved the experience — the sights, the food, the culture, even the freezing weather. here are my last pics of beijing as philippe and i walked through the BLCU campus to hail a cab one last time (well, at least for me, it would be the last for now):

we got to the beijing capital airport two hours before my scheduled flight. there was no line at the check-in counter and i just breezed through the entire thing. little did i know that i was going to embark on one last adventure in china. i got to the immigration, and was surprised to see a long queue. at that point, i didn’t think much of it because i knew i still had a lot of time. minutes passed, and i found myself not moving much in line. i finally got through immigration after 15 minutes or so, but the worst was far from over. if immigration took long, airport security took forever! then i started to worry…i seriously thought i was going to miss my flight. in all honesty, i loved my entire trip and wished i could have stayed longer, but if it meant missing my flight, i’ll pass on the chance. it was already boarding time, and i was nowhere near the scanners. for the first time, panic set in! i eventually made it through all the scanners and body check 5 minutes before my departure time. on my way to the gate, i caught the attention of some ground staff and they asked me if i was manila-bound. i said i was, and all i understood after that was, “hurry! you’re the last person.” i was running (more like sprinting) alongside the ground staff while she radioed to the people at the gate that i was coming. long story short, i made it…but boy, talk about adrenaline rush!
so my peking rendezvous has finally come to a close. i just want to thank philippe again for this amazing birthday present. i really couldn’t have asked for anything more.

謝謝你 (xie xie ni), thank you, merci beaucoup, mon amour! ‘til our next rendezvous!
