shakin’ off some blogger’s blues.
my last “real” post (read: entry that actually told a story of my goings-on) was about kooza back in november. since then, i have scrimped on blogging, and have simply splashed my site with bits and pieces of quotes, pictures and links as a way of updating it. truth be told, i’ve hit a rough patch on the road and have been in no mood to blog the past couple of months. let’s hope this one will jump start this ol’ brain of mine to start writing again. so allow me to shake off some blogger’s blues and bring you up to speed on what this dork has been up to since december 2009.
» DECEMBER: BITTERSWEET GOODBYES & HELLOS
on the first week of december (can’t believe it’s been over two months now), i packed up my stuff and left my dear la-la-land. it wasn’t by choice, but more forced by circumstances, that i returned home to manila. it was definitely tough to see all my things stowed into six big boxes and shipped back home, and even tougher to say bye to my friends and board a plane with a one-way ticket out of LA, not knowing when i can come back to the place i’ve called home for the past three years.
coming back to manila though also proved to be a sweet occasion. i finally saw my family (well, at least most of them) again after two years of not being able to come home. not only was i looking forward to spending christmas in manila — since there really is nothing quite like it — but i especially planned on being home in time to surprise my dad for his 61st birthday. to say that he was surprised is an understatement, because my dad actually shed some happy tears!

» JANUARY: START THE NEW YEAR RIGHT
it was also my first time in a long time to ring in the new year with my family. i sure missed watching fireworks go off in every corner of manila, and having media noche (midnight meal) with my family on new year’s eve. all the festivities and binging did not stop on new year’s day though, since january also happens to be the birth month of my mom. our family celebrated her birthday with dinner at omakase, one of our favorite restaurants close to home. though still incomplete with the absence of my sister and her family, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and feasted on sushi, sashimi, tempura and loads of japanese goodness.
i also started actively looking for a new job last month. sad to say, not much is going on at the moment, but i trust that my patience and perseverance will be rewarded in due time. i guess it’s best to table this topic for now until i have more exciting news to share about it…

» FEBRUARY: FRENZIED HURLY-BURLY
a few days ago, philippe also left LA somewhat for the same reasons that i did…although his could possibly be more temporary than permanent. weeks before his departure, i was so busy helping him sell his furniture for him (researching on costs and creating/posting online ads on craigslist). in exchange, he took care of finally selling my beloved mini. *boo-hoo!* philippe is back in paris for now — leaving us with no choice but to adjust again from a 16-hour time difference to a 7-hour one. oh, the joys (not!) of living in different time zones!
on other news, this month is turning out to be pretty exciting for our family…let’s just say we’ve got something cooking in camp oz, aside from the house construction in cuenca! we’ve got “projects” going on left and right…i shall zip my lips for now, lest i jinx the whole shebang.
wow, looks like it’s time to wrap this baby up. that exercise was pretty tiring…therapeutic, but definitely tiring. think i might have just cleared out all the cobwebs in my head! let’s hope it doesn’t take me another two months to post another blog.
