the big top came to town.

who says the circus is just for kids?  apparently not.  droves of people, young and old young-at-heart (including philippe and me), flocked to the santa monica pier two nights ago to see “kooza”, one of the touring shows performed by the cirque du soleil company.  i have always loved cirque shows because of the modern twist they bring to reinvent the circus — they do away with the use of animals.  instead, they create a storyline backed by an amazing theatrical performance, complete with live music, jaw-dropping acrobatics and stunts, and some “clowning” around.  here are some highlights from the night.

first in the agenda, early dinner at the lobster

(1) crispy lemon calamari with garlic anchovy aioli;

(2) seared day boat sea scallops;

(3) steamed american lobster;

(4) panna cotta with lemon cookies.
